Gardening
Gardenate
- Gardenate is a basic site filled with super-helpful information - sowing times, harvesting tips, ideal conditions, recommendations for different climate zones... and, better yet, it's based in the Southern Hemisphere (the creators live in Australia and New Zealand). It also includes settings for Canada, the US and the UK.
- This site has instructions for gathering and storing the seeds of several dozen plants, pretty straight-forward! A handy reference guide for anybody who wants to try their hand at self-sustained planting.
Knitting
Ravelry
- This website is packed with really awesome features - a project notebook (where you can include photos, pattern, yarn and needle information as well as notes), message boards on all subjects, stash and needle tracking and a massive library of patterns (many of them free). It's free to join and pretty much the best resource ever.
- An excellent blog with reviews, interviews, patterns, tutorials and, most notably for me this year, the regular chart releases for the Geek-A-Long project.
- And, more specifically, Stitch Diva's double knitting cast on/bind off tutorial. I've referred back to this just about every time I start a double-knitting project - it refuses to stick in my mind, and it's so handy to have somewhere to refresh my memory!
Kitchen
Veggieful
- While I'm not vegan myself I do have some friends who are, so I spend some time trying out recipes that they'll be able to eat with us - and my favourite place to start is here! In particular I really love their gingerbread and sausage roll recipes (I don't even bother making "normal" versions any more).
