Vlogs

Do you YouTube? Since we don't have TV but do have an unlimited internet connection I spend a lot of time knitting in front of the small screen. I only have a few favourites so far but I think they're worth mentioning - and I'm looking forward to finding a few more channels to follow!

Gardening

Abundant Permaculture
  • This channel follows the farming trials and tribulations of the adorable Rhodes family as they work on improving the sustainability and simplicity of their life. Their daily vlogs are a pleasure to watch (and I have to admit I enjoy watching the kids grow almost as much as I do the garden - they're so sweet) and there's a lot of information there too.
Homesteady
  • Fast and informative, these videos cover a huge range of topics on pretty much everything related to homesteading - from goats and poultry to planting a food forest garden of your own.
Our Permaculture Life
  • Fellow Aussie Morag Gamble covers all sorts of topics on permaculture and sustainable living, and a lot of the videos are especially helpful from a practical, feeding-your-family sort of focus.

Cooking

Nerdy Nummies
  • Rosanna Pansino is the adorable host of this channel, where everything made has a geek-related theme - from Harry Potter licorice wands to a Halloween brain red velvet cake. Great not just for recipes but for inspiration on decorating and theming the things you make.
Donal Skehan
  • This channel makes me so hungry, though I'm especially intrigued by some of the more interesting recipes he's done - such as the brownies made primarily from dates and bananas with avocado-based frosting (apparently they're delicious?!) or the one-pan pasta dishes.
