I'm not going out in that! |
The Yorkshire scarf remains beautiful - and the Capretta remains lovely - but the pattern still keeps catching me out. I've had to knit back a few rows again to fix an error, and I'm not sure what it is. Possibly it's because the lace repeats are quite similar between rows and I can't get into a rhythm on the order of decreases and yarn overs because it changes so often, and I end up putting them in the wrong order? I really want to love knitting this one because it looks so damn pretty, but it takes commitment to work on it and that means it's not great tv knitting at all.
Still, I'm getting there - I'm up to my final repeat of the chart. It's hard to see what progress I'm making as it doesn't feel like it's growing but I suppose it must be, as the number of repeats per row keeps on growing. I do love the look of the spine still, and when it's blocked that lace is going to be stunning.

Too big now to spread out on the needle - plenty of space while knitting, though. |
In much more impressive news I've been able to put a few days into the Siren Song and it is moving along much more quickly. I'm up to the fourth of the five colours ("Salt Air") and, aside from feeling like I could go with one more step in transition between the blue and the green, I'm really in love with these colours. I'm about four rows away from moving on to the smallest waves section of the pattern, so basically the home stretch. So far the splice joins seem to have held really well, too, now that they've dried - they aren't nearly as neat or hidden as I would prefer or normally achieve, unfortunately, but only one of them is too obvious so I'm gonna take that as a victory and move right on with my life.
It's hard to judge the scale at this point as it's much longer than the cable and I can't really spread it out, but it looks like it's gonna be a decent size. I'm definitely excited to see it blocked out to take advantage of this fairly soft, loose fabric it's knitting up into.
Finally, in less impressive news, I've bound off the finger stubs for one of my align mitts. It's... not very comfortable, and I think most of that comes from the pinky finger being too tight and therefore not sitting down low enough, making the whole thing pull across my knuckles. I'm definitely not happy with it but the process of the finger section is so fiddly that I just haven't brought myself to undoing that finger and going back to redo it. It's just so much work. I kinda like the way it all looks, though - the colours aren't subtle, but it's cheerful and if nothing else in this weather I can use a little cheer.
There are a lot of ends to weave in though. I'm not looking forward to that at all. Still, I have to finish the other hand's fingers before I can worry too much about that, right? Sigh.
I definitely won't be finishing these in time to wear this season. Oh well, maybe next year.
