I Heart Luggala

You guys, this project is consuming my life and I wish it would never end (but also that it would so I could wear it already).

Columbine in sunlight is a lot pinker.

I'm about to join, I believe, my seventh skein and I've just reached the end of the bust increases (about four inches to go until I separate for the arms). It's crazy to think I'm not even close to halfway through the yarn I ordered - did I somehow misjudge the yardage or do sleeves take up a surprising amount of yarn?! I have been fairly paranoid the entire time that the thing isn't actually going to fit (it just... doesn't look that big) so today I got a few of my old fixed circs and divided the stitches onto them so that I could (sort of) try it on. The result? Promising!

Not easy to do without help!

I'm a little concerned, though, about how much extra fabric there is on the upper back area. You can see a little of it in the picture but it's super floppy and I'm starting to think I need to rip back and make some changes before I get too much further. While the original pattern is intended to be worn with some positive ease I'm not too worried about going a little tighter since baggy clothes at this size are, well, not terribly flattering. I think that might be where the issue is stemming from, though, and from the fact that my hips and butt are not proportional to my bust in the provided sizes - I've had to work out my own decrease and increase ratios to my own measurements.

At the moment I'm thinking that I might need to go back and, perhaps, skip the back needle increases from the waist up, since my torso really doesn't get much wider from that point up (even though the front obviously needs the extra stitches). And, now that extra shaping is on my mind, I'm wondering if I shouldn't decrease a little for the last few inches up to the arms - usually I wear lower cut tops to avoid the Great Bosom Expanse problem but the only thing worse than a great swathe of fabric across my upper chest might be a kinda loose swathe of fabric across my upper chest?

Knit Picks Alpaca Cloud, 'Catherine' colourway (lace weight).

In other news - more yarn has arrived! I solemnly swear that this is going to be it for a while, too - my shopping sprees are over. Above you can see the stunning Alpaca Cloud that I already have earmarked to make the equally stunning Rock Island Shawl (by designer Jared Flood) that I've been drooling over for nearly two years now.

It is so beautiful.

Knit Picks Capretta, 'Regal', 'Pesto' and 'Harbor' colourways.

Here we have my new colours of Capretta and I am so excited to knit with these, too (although, I mean, of course I won't until I've finished with the first one... probably...) and I have a few patterns in mind, though I haven't thought about which colour would go where - I'm looking at Ione, Henslowe and Damask. Aren't they lovely?

Out in the garden Spring is coming in fast and things are starting to grow (I'm up to seven potato plants now!) but my only real updates are that I've done so much weeding that my fingers are weak like one of those skill tester claw machines. Luckily that won't stop me from knitting - I think I'm off to spend some more time with my Luggala.
