This ended up being a really sweet little project, and it turns out that once you've finished the face towel the other two pieces are done in no time. I modified the smaller two - shortening the face cloth to a more square shape and enlarging the soap pouch to fit the soap I'd bought, as well as adjusting the top end so the soap would be replacable - but overall it's a cute, straightforward pattern that ends in a neat little set. I'm certain the recipient will be pleased, and that makes it worth the trouble of sore hands.
Of course, if I crocheted more often they wouldn't have hurt so much, but I have to say I still prefer to knit (but crochet certainly has its place - the fabric this stitch creates is lovely).
The one upside to all of this rain (yes, it's STILL raining here, and halfway through November - that's a good two weeks past when we're used to having the hot weather setting in) is that the garden is flourishing. The chard especially is a real champion. It doesn't grow as quickly as the spinach did and that makes it a much more manageable plant to keep up with. A few leaves with some eggs and spring onion (okay, and maybe a little bacon) make for an easy and delicious breakfast, or they shred up to easily replace any recipe I'd normally use spinach for. It's especially good in burger patties.
The lemon tree has a ton of buds on it and a few have opened into lovely little white flowers.
The lettuce, pak choy and spring onions are all looking hearty and doing their thing. We also have here some lavender cuttings from a lovely bush at my mum's place - she had stuck them in a pot to root and by the time I got around there to separate them out they'd taken over. Doesn't look like much from the surface, right? Well...
Yes, those are some rocks there taken hostage at the bottom of the pot. Nature is amazing! I have four of the little plants here and so far they are still green so I'm taking that as a good sign, though I won't transplant them for a few weeks yet to avoid upsetting them since they're so recently separated out.
I'm sure you can guess that the rain has the weeds growing like mad again, and it definitely looks like I'd never even gotten the hang of it in the first place... it's very difficult not to just throw in the towel and let them take over!
